The Fellowes Piano Program, established in the year 2008 and funded by the Athenaeum Trust Fund of the Boston Public Library, facilitates gratis music lessons to children from Roxbury, Massachusetts and it’s neighboring communities. For this work and his contributions to the educational scene in Boston, Carlos was the recipient of the Berklee Urban Service Award 2019.
The Roxbury Concert Series aims to showcase the vibrant and diverse talent that coexists within the city of Boston. Offering a series of events across multiple genres and disciplines, RCS intends to bring the highest level of artistry to the heart of the Roxbury neighborhood using as its main venue the iconic Roxbury Branch of the Boston Public Library.
Macondo Chamber Players (MCP) stands at the forefront of an exciting new generation in classical music. Founded in 2012 by violinist Jose Romero and pianist Carlos Vargas, MCP brings together established and emerging artists from Latin America and the world to perform chamber music, teach young people, and encourage international understanding.
